Job Description

Purpose of the Role

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with both corporate and individual clients. It's the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success.

Accountabilities

  • Management of client relationships: Identify the clients' financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance.
  • Analysis of data: Support the analysis of data obtained from various sources, including the investment portfolio and cash flow, to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement, and additional services to support client needs.
  • Research and understanding: Research and understand the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Design of customised solutions: Design solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.
  • Communication: Communicate the value proposition of proposed solutions, justify recommendations, and negotiate terms that are beneficial for both the client and the bank.
  • Guidance to clients: Provide guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, offering expert investment advice, risk management and wealth management strategies support, and updates on market trends to ensure a positive and continuous relationship.
  • Risk assessment: Assess financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, and implement measures to minimize potential losses.
  • Documentation: Document all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability, and communicate findings effectively to support product development, service offerings, and the overall bank strategy.
  • Monitoring: Monitor client satisfaction, revenue generated, and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management efforts.

  • Advise and influence decision making: Contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate: Collaborate closely with other functions/ business divisions.
  • Lead a team: Lead a team performing complex tasks, using well-developed professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the whole business function. Set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraise performance relative to objectives, and determine reward outcomes.
  • Leadership behaviours: Demonstrate a clear set of leadership behaviours to create an environment for colleagues to thrive and deliver to a consistently excellent standard. The four LEAD behaviours are:

  • Collaborative assignments: For individual contributors, lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments. Identify new directions for assignments and/or projects, identifying a combination of cross-functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes.
  • Consult on complex issues: Provide advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Risk mitigation: Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Risk management: Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Collaboration: Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function. Collaborate with other areas of work, for business-aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Complex analysis: Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practices (in other areas, teams, companies, etc.) to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communication: Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
  • Influence stakeholders: Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

We are looking for a highly motivated and results-driven Business Relationship Manager at Barclays to focus on developing and maintaining good business relationships with our SME clients. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor, ensuring that clients’ needs are met with the right financial solutions while promoting client retention and satisfaction. You will be responsible for understanding clients’ business goals, offering tailored products and services, and managing ongoing relationships to drive both their success and Barclays’ growth.

Requirements

  • Previous experience: Business relationship management, lending, or banking, with a focus on SME clients and lending products.
  • Business development skills: A proven history of identifying and securing new opportunities.
  • Communication and relationship-building skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively engage clients and internal teams.
