Job Title

Business Risk Analyst (Operational Risk and Resilience)

Department

Business Risk-BG-UK

Overview of Department

Business Risk helps the firm understand and manage the risks it takes in support of its strategy and priorities. The Operational Risk and Resilience team provides oversight, advice and challenge across operational risk, resilience, vendor risk, product risk and fund risk, helping the firm make informed decisions within risk appetite.

Purpose of Role

As Business Risk Analyst, you will support the Department in its role as trusted adviser to the firm by contributing to the analysis of operational, resilience, vendor, product and fund risks in accordance with the relevant risk management frameworks. You will work collaboratively across Business Risk and the wider firm, supporting clear insight, reporting and responses to internal and external stakeholders.

The role also has a strong continuous improvement and innovation focus. You will help improve the quality and efficiency of risk activities through the use of AI and other tools, keep abreast of emerging technologies in the risk management space and proactively explore practical use cases that can strengthen how the team works.

Responsibilities

Risk analysis and oversight

  • Support the analysis of operational, resilience, vendor, product and fund risks in accordance with the relevant risk management frameworks.
  • Perform ad-hoc detailed reviews on emerging areas of risk, drawing together relevant information and evidence to support clear conclusions and appropriate follow-up.
  • Contribute to other risk activities across the Business Risk Department, supporting delivery of the Department's wider objectives and priorities.

Governance, reporting and stakeholder support

  • Support reporting to relevant committees and internal or external boards on risk matters, and attend meetings where required.
  • Collaborate with the wider Business Risk team and other departments on risk management activities, building effective working relationships and contributing to a trusted-adviser approach.
  • Manage and respond to internal and external queries, providing timely, clear and accurate information and escalating where specialist input is required.

Improvement and innovation

  • Support the development of the quality and efficiency of risk-related activities by using AI and other approved tools to improve analysis, monitoring, reporting and repeatable processes.
  • Keep up to date with new and emerging technologies in the risk management space, including through participation in the Business Tech Community and external research.
  • Take a proactive approach to identifying and exploring relevant use cases, working with subject matter experts across Professional Services and the wider firm as required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Future capability

  • Build knowledge across operational risk, resilience, vendor, product and fund risk, developing the judgement and analytical capability needed to contribute increasingly independently to risk assessments, reviews and stakeholder advice.
  • Develop confidence in the practical use of AI, data and other emerging technologies, helping the Department identify opportunities to improve the quality, efficiency and scalability of risk management activities.

What success looks like

  • High-quality analysis: Operational, resilience, vendor and fund risk analysis is accurate, proportionate and focused on the issues that matter most.
  • Proactive and useful risk insight: Ad-hoc reviews and day-to-day analysis identify relevant themes and emerging issues, supporting clear decisions and appropriate follow-up.
  • Effective governance support: Committee, board and stakeholder reporting is clear, timely and reliable, with queries handled professionally and efficiently.
  • Trusted relationships: Colleagues across Business Risk and the wider firm see the role as collaborative, responsive and constructive.
  • Improved efficiency: AI and other approved tools are used thoughtfully to improve the quality, efficiency and scalability of risk activities.
  • Growing capability: Knowledge and confidence develop across the team's risk disciplines, emerging technologies and the practical application of risk management frameworks.

Your knowledge and experience

  • Experience within financial services is preferable, particularly where this has provided exposure to risk, controls, operations, compliance, audit, data analysis or related activities.
  • Experience of working in a Professional Services-type role, or in an environment requiring collaboration with a range of specialist and business stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with AI and business intelligence or data visualisation tools.
  • Ability to analyse information thoughtfully, communicate clearly and work accurately and collaboratively. Direct risk-management experience is not essential, but curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to learn and improve are important.
