Role Overview

As an Assistant Manager within the Business Services Group, you will support the delivery of statutory accounts, management accounts, and advisory services to a varied client portfolio. You will take responsibility for reviewing work prepared by junior team members and assisting Managers with client delivery and workflow management.

This role is suited to an experienced Accounts Senior within a Top 70 accountancy firm who is looking to step into a leadership position and develop both technical and people management skills.

Key Responsibilities

Client Delivery & Review

  • Prepare and review statutory accounts and management accounts.
  • Ensure work is completed accurately and within deadlines.
  • Identify issues and escalate as appropriate.

People Management & Development

  • Supervise and review work of Accounts Executives and Seniors.
  • Provide feedback and support professional development.
  • Assist Managers with team workflow and resource planning.

Client & Team Interaction

  • Act as a key point of contact for smaller clients.
  • Communicate with clients and respond to queries effectively.
  • Support Managers in maintaining strong client relationships.

Process & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with firm policies and standards.
  • Maintain high-quality documentation and working papers.
  • Contribute to process improvements where appropriate.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Experience within a Business Services or Accounts function in practice.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounts preparation.
  • Experience reviewing work and supporting junior staff.
  • ACA / ACCA qualified or part-qualified.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
