Summary

If you’re brilliant at organisation and creating order, and you love working with people, upholding high standards in service, reporting and presentation, then this could be the role for you.

We’re looking for a Business Services Co-ordinator to join us at Ightham Mote and Knole. You’ll provide efficient, proactive and flexible business services support across both properties, delivered to a consistently high standard.

You’ll be reporting to the Business Services Lead, supporting and working with staff and volunteer teams across both sites and providing excellent service to visitors.

Hours/ Working pattern: This is a full-time role. As the properties are open 363 days a year, occasional weekend working (typically 1 day per month) and a proportion of bank holiday working will be required.

Interviews: are planned for Monday 12th October

What It's Like To Work Here

Ightham Mote is a beautiful 700-year-old moated manor house, surrounded by stunning gardens and over 500 acres of freely accessible estate. Romantic and picturesque, it’s nestled in the Kent countryside between Tonbridge and Sevenoaks.

Knole sits proudly in the heart of Sevenoaks. The estate boasts historic showrooms with a world-class collection of paintings and furniture, sprawling courtyards, gatehouse tower and conservation studio set in a 1000-acre medieval deer park.

We are passionate about caring for these wonderful properties and visitors are central to everything we do. We are a busy team, who like a challenge and deliver at pace. We work collaboratively as a team across two historic sites that are open 363 days a year. We are hands on and work together to get the job done and create exceptional visitor experiences.

What you'll be doing

The National Trust is a vibrant and fast-moving organisation, where no two days are the same. If you enjoy variety and thrive in a busy environment, you'll play a key role in helping our places run smoothly and efficiently. As part of the Business Services team, you'll provide a wide range of administrative and operational support across the property. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing records, systems and processes
  • Coordinating group bookings and events
  • Handling visitor enquiries
  • Processing banking activities
  • Supporting soft facilities management
  • Producing finance reports and other essential administration

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You'll use your knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Excel and Copilot, to work efficiently and effectively. You'll also be confident learning and using the National Trust's systems and processes to maintain accurate records and support day-to-day operations.

Working with minimal supervision, you'll use your initiative to manage competing priorities, make routine decisions, and ensure tasks are completed to a high standard. You'll support colleagues across the property, providing guidance on business processes and helping to ensure national systems and procedures are followed consistently. You'll also help coordinate and support office volunteers, enabling them to contribute effectively to the work of the team.

Building positive relationships will be an important part of the role. You'll work closely with local supporter groups, contractors, suppliers and other external contacts, providing excellent customer service and ensuring effective communication. As a collaborative team player, you'll always be looking for opportunities to support colleagues beyond your immediate team and, on busier days, you'll be happy to step away from the office to assist visitors and help deliver a great experience for everyone who comes to the property.

You'll champion best practice in business support, looking for ways to improve systems and processes and helping the team work as efficiently as possible.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.
