Ealing Council Business Services Officer Opportunity
Ealing Council has an exciting opportunity for a Business Services Officer to join our Housing Demand Service on a full-time basis.

The Business Services Officer Role
This is a varied and rewarding role focused on supporting the effective operation of the Housing Demand Service. The successful candidate will play a key role in processing Housing Benefit claims for households in temporary accommodation, providing administrative support to the wider service, and helping to ensure business processes are delivered accurately and efficiently.
Working as part of a dedicated team, you will contribute to the smooth running of back-office functions that support homelessness, temporary accommodation, income recovery and financial administration activities across the service.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Housing Benefit claims and related documentation accurately and within required timescales.
- Maintain and update council databases, records and business systems.
- Provide administrative support across Housing Demand service areas.
- Monitor, process and distribute incoming correspondence and documentation.
- Support financial administration activities including invoice processing, purchase orders and payment-related enquiries.
- Assist with complaints, Member enquiries and service requests.
- Produce correspondence, reports and management information as required.
- Work collaboratively with Housing Benefit, Housing Demand and other council services to support residents and service delivery.
- Ensure records are maintained in line with data protection requirements and council procedures.

Our Ideal Business Services Officer
- Experience of working in a busy administrative, business support or customer-focused environment.
- Experience of processing Housing Benefit claims or working with welfare benefits is desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Good numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Experience of maintaining databases and electronic record systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and supporting positive outcomes for residents.
