Job Title: Business Support Administrator

Location:

Onsite - Portsmouth Naval Base - 37 hour week – Mon to Thurs 7.30am to 16:15pm, Fri 7.30am to 12:30pm

Salary:

Circa £31,000

Job Description:

The Business Support Administrator delivers key administrative support to the Warship Support team, managing travel arrangements, expenses, record keeping, and business processes. Based onsite at Portsmouth Naval Base, the role helps ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of day-to-day operations.

Core duties:

  • Coordinate and manage domestic and international travel arrangements, ensuring efficient, cost-effective itineraries that meet business needs.
  • Book and administer flights, accommodation, rail travel, and ground transportation through Concur and Amex systems, managing high-value travel expenditure.
  • Analyse travel schedules, transfer options, and logistics to optimise journey times while maintaining compliance with security and company requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support, including record management, expense processing, documentation, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Work closely with Project Administrators, Heads of Security, and wider business teams to support operational activities and drive continuous process improvements.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage sensitive information in line with Data Protection and GDPR requirements.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to changing business needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience providing administrative support, coordinating activities, or managing information within a professional environment.
  • Comfortable working independently while contributing positively as part of a collaborative team.

The Warship Support Team:

In Warship Support, we sustain the Royal Navy’s surface fleet from HM Naval Base Portsmouth, from platform maintenance and system upgrades to deployed operational support, we work alongside the Royal Navy to ensure fleet availability and mission readiness. Our work ranges from routine dockyard tasks to complex engineering enhancements, keeping everything from T45 Destroyers to Type 23 Frigates and Aircraft Carriers modern, effective, and ready for operations.
