I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Duties
We are looking for a dynamic individual to join the team to undertake a range of administrative duties. You will need to:
- Be well organised and able to demonstrate initiative
- Demonstrate a flexible approach to changing work demands
- Possess problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate good communication skills

You will also need to be skilled in using a range of IT software including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams and SharePoint; training will be given on specialist systems that are used within the service. The role will require accurate data inputting. You will be aware of the importance of maintaining confidentiality and acting within the General Data Protection Regulations.
Please note that this is an office-based role due to the need of welcoming families with children, and young people into the building. You will need to hold a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle (a taxi service will be provided where disability precludes this); as there is a need to travel between sites.
The work pattern for this role will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, three days 8:30am-4:30pm and one day 8:30am - 5:00pm
