Are you an organised and motivated individual with excellent attention to detail looking for a rewarding administrative role within the public sector? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Business Support Administrator to join our Corporate Parenting and Family Placements Team, providing essential business support to help deliver positive outcomes for children and families in our local community.

The Role

Responsibilities

As a Business Support Administrator, you will be providing a range of administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of teams in Children's Services. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing invoices relating to the work of the service
  • Processing statutory checks for foster and kinship carers
  • Arranging meetings, prepare and distribute agendas and take accurate minutes
  • Managing incoming enquiries and correspondence
  • Maintaining accurate records and databases
  • Providing general administrative support, such as scanning, photocopying, and data entry

You will work closely with the Business Support Officer and other colleagues to deliver high-quality administrative support, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Children's Services.

For this role we would also consider a job share of 2 x 18.5 hour roles, please discuss this with the manager at interview.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Accurate data entry and record keeping
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • A positive and professional attitude

Previous experience in an office administrative role is essential, ideally within a public sector or similar environment.

You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 28 days per annum (plus public holidays) Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years’ service.
