Overview

We are looking for a highly organised, proactive, and customer-focused individual to join our dedicated Corporate Business Support Team, supporting the Adults & Health Service. This is an important role where your administrative and business support skills will help frontline Adult Social Care teams deliver timely, effective, and compassionate services to some of Buckinghamshire’s most vulnerable residents.

Working at the heart of a busy and rewarding service, you will provide essential coordination, communication, and administrative support that helps teams respond to residents’ needs, manage priorities, and maintain high-quality service delivery. Your work behind the scenes will make a real difference by enabling colleagues to focus on improving outcomes for adults across Buckinghamshire.

About Us

Corporate Business Support (CBS) aims to provide the authority with an efficient, value-for-money business administration service.

We pride ourselves on being resilient and adaptable to change, whilst understanding the processes, policies, and values held by the council. Our team has extensive experience supporting a wide range of Council services and brings a strong understanding of the business support needed to help directorates run effectively. We work proactively with our customers, continually developing our knowledge and skills to deliver a responsive, efficient, and high-quality service.

Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.

About The Role

We are looking for experienced administrators with exceptional organisation skills and minute-taking experience, who will be able to provide effective support. All work carried out is of a highly confidential nature. The main tasks of a Business Support Officer are:

  • Coordinating, organising, attending, and supporting practices within the Business Support Team.
  • Minute-taking skills.
  • Typing up and distributing notes and plans within tight deadlines.
  • Supporting with generic tasks required of a Business Support Officer.
  • The ability to build professional working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  • To be able to organise your own workload and prioritise effectively.

We currently have 3 days working from home and a minimum of 2 days in the office depending on the business need. There are occasions where you may be required to travel out of county, however these instances do not happen very often and will be pre-planned.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
