Help shape the future of Poole

Poole Town Council is seeking a highly organised and motivated Business Support Officer to join our small and friendly team.

This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of local government, supporting the Town Clerk in delivering services that make a real difference to residents, community groups, councillors and allotment tenants across Poole.

No two days are the same. One day you could be helping to organise a civic event for the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Sheriff of Poole, updating the Council website or supporting a committee meeting. The next, you could be managing allotment records, assisting residents with enquiries or helping to prepare reports and correspondence.

About the role

You will provide confidential administrative support across a wide range of Council activities, including:

  • Supporting the Town Clerk and Council administration
  • Managing allotment records, waiting lists and tenancy documentation
  • Responding to public enquiries and stakeholder correspondence
  • Supporting the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Sheriff of Poole with civic engagements
  • Preparing meeting papers and assisting with Council meetings
  • Updating the Council website and digital communications
  • Maintaining accurate records, databases and filing systems

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
