Fixed Term Contract / Secondment Opportunity until 31/03/2028 with opportunity to extend

Hackney is one of the most dynamic and progressive local authorities in the UK. We are a resilient, vibrant, and creative borough in the heart of London, with strong, diverse communities and a powerful set of shared values.

Over the past twenty years, the Council has built up first-class services, outstanding public infrastructure, and a reputation for excellence, innovation, and ambition. We are leading the way on essential work such as our fight for equity in Hackney with a particular focus on becoming an actively anti-racist borough. But the work doesn’t stop there, we are proactive in our approach to bringing fairness to all aspects of life including gender, neurodiversity and across the poverty divide.

Experts at Hand (Locality Inclusion Teams)

Hackney’s Locality Inclusion Teams (LIT) form our innovative “Experts at Hand” service, bringing together a dedicated multi-disciplinary network of Educational Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Specialist Teachers to transform local SEND provision and build capacity. Designed to shift the system away from reactive statutory assessments, our LIT workforce delivers early, proactive, and data-driven support directly to schools, early years settings, and community hubs across four borough localities. By offering readily accessible advice, targeted interventions, and strategic guidance, our “Experts at Hand” build workforce capacity, strengthen inclusive environments, and ensure children, young people, and their families receive seamless, high-quality support at the earliest possible stage.

Experts at Hand Business Support Lead

The Experts at Hand Business Support Lead will play a vital operational role managing and coordinating the Business Support Team to ensure the seamless, high-quality delivery of Hackney’s Locality Inclusion Teams (LITs). Reporting directly to the EAH Service Lead, you will manage three Business Support Officers, serving as the first point of contact for public and professional enquiries while developing robust administrative and financial systems. You will lead on data management, tracking key performance metrics, and delivering accurate reporting to inform service planning and ensure deadlines are met. Acting as a central operational hub, you will build strong collaborative relationships with schools, settings and partners across the system, ensuring data protection compliance and driving continuous quality improvement across the Experts at Hand Service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
