The role

As a Business Support Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the overall effectiveness of the Business Support team and the high-quality service delivered to senior leaders and their teams. You will lead by example, providing strong people leadership, operational oversight and proactive support to the business.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing the wider Business Support team, including acting as People Manager for a number of team members.
  • Overseeing and actively managing a fair and effective distribution of workload across the team, ensuring capacity, priorities and service levels are balanced.
  • Building team capability by developing skills and knowledge across both technical and specialist areas of Business Support activity.
  • Organising, preparing and chairing relevant manager meetings, and proactively driving actions and outcomes arising from those meetings.
  • Proactively supporting business leaders and their teams ensuring a high level of service is provided at all times.
  • Owning, leading and delivering ad hoc projects and process improvements, as required by the business.
  • Acting as a point of escalation for issues, ensuring risks are identified early and resolved effectively.
  • Building relationships across the business.

Skills & Experience

  • The highest levels of professionalism, integrity and trustworthiness, with the ability to handle confidential information with complete discretion.
  • Warm, confident and professional communication skills. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with strong quality and compliance standards.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, managing competing priorities. Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage both personal workload and that of others.
  • Excellent listening skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Experience using CRM systems, technology and AI tools to aid processes.
  • Confidence in adopting new technology.
  • A proactive mindset with the confidence to anticipate needs, identify issues and propose practical solutions.
  • A strong team player with a practical, solutions-focused mindset and the willingness to be hands-on when needed.
  • Confidence and capability to give constructive, timely and balanced feedback, including managing difficult or sensitive conversations appropriately in managing performance.
  • Strong delegation skills, with the ability to clearly brief tasks, set expectations and manage delivery through the Business Support team.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and support the development of less experienced colleagues.
  • Confidence to challenge constructively and influence positively at all levels.
