Job Overview

An exciting 3-year secondment opportunity has arisen within East Area Mental Health Services for a Business Support Manager to join the Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of operational, workforce and transformation priorities across Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Services.

The post holder will act as a key link between operational services and corporate support functions, working closely with Workforce, Finance, Estates and Digital Services to support strategic and operational objectives. The role will oversee recruitment and vacancy management while ensuring effective business support arrangements are in place to enable service delivery.

The Business Support Manager will lead the modernisation and transformation of administrative and clerical services across Mental Health and Learning Disabilities, driving improvements in efficiency, responsiveness and service delivery. This will include reviewing and developing systems, processes and ways of working to support organisational priorities.

A key aspect of the role is providing professional business support to the Senior Leadership Team, coordinating and monitoring service improvement programmes and operational priorities. The post holder will support workforce initiatives, health and safety requirements, ligature risk reduction programmes, estates developments, capital schemes and environmental improvement projects across the East Area.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Support programme management and performance monitoring arrangements, ensuring that actions, risks, milestones and deliverables are effectively coordinated and reported.
  • Work closely with clinical and operational leaders to contribute to the successful delivery of service developments and transformation programmes, helping to ensure organisational objectives are achieved.
  • Have overall oversight of administrative functions across the East Area, supporting Administrative Managers and teams to deliver high-quality, consistent and effective business support services.
  • Promote standardisation, continuous improvement and best practice, ensuring resources are utilised effectively to support frontline services.
  • Work collaboratively across all Mental Health and Learning Disabilities teams and services within the East Area, engaging with a wide range of stakeholders across the Division and wider Health Board.
