We’re AtkinsRéalis, a world-leading design, engineering, and project management organization. We connect people, data, and technology to transform the world’s infrastructure and energy systems. We are seeking a Business Support Manager to join our Admin Function in Transportation.

As a Business Support Manager in our team, you will be providing high-level support to members of the Operational Leadership Team (OLT) and Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

Your role will also have People Manager responsibilities for a team of administrative services professionals. The successful candidate will be a proactive and influential member of the team providing insight and support to the wider group. The role requires an experienced and adaptable professional with experience supporting senior leaders, who can balance executive support responsibilities with leadership, continuous improvement initiatives, and team development activities.

Your role

Supplying an efficient support service to several directors; the duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Inbox management, answering basic emails on behalf of principal Directors.
  • Complex diary management including organizing larger events / meetings / conferences on behalf of your directors, complex travel arrangements, domestic and international, arranging travel visas on occasion.
  • Responsible for meeting administration including preparation of agenda, papers & minutes.
  • Provide a high-quality, proactive support service that enables leaders to focus on strategic priorities.
  • Support the team in delivering actions and commitments effectively and within agreed timescales.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders from UK (United Kingdom), abroad, and in industry, ensure managers are fully briefed and have the necessary papers for meetings.
  • Produce and send monthly expenses, maintain accurate systems for electronic filing.
  • Act as a trusted representative of the business, building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build an effective relationship with your directors and peers so that you can proactively pre-empt, plan and collect information and deliver your service to help support their role.
  • People Manager responsibility for a team administrative services professional.
  • Managing the conduct, performance, and development of line reports, including conducting career conversations and personal development reviews, mentor/coach more junior administrators.
  • Building a team that can share knowledge and best practice, improving support to the Transportation division.
  • Finding new ways of working and areas for improvement, champion latest technologies and ways of working.
  • Coordinate workload and allocate activities appropriately across the team to ensure effective service delivery.

About you

  • Experience supporting senior leaders within a complex, fast-paced, or professional environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Can demonstrate versatility in preparation and collation of a wide range of material for meetings and events.
  • Excellent at building and maintaining relationships, across all key business areas (i.e., risk management, business finance, marketing, HR, governance, administration, legal, etc.) as well as externally (government, clients, suppliers, etc.) to ensure efficiency around scheduling and information flow as required.
  • Strong digital capability, including Microsoft 365 applications and collaboration tools, with the ability to quickly adopt new technologies and systems.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • A proactive self-starter and problem solver with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Emotional intelligence and stakeholder management expertise.
  • Can demonstrate critical thinking.
  • Curious and interested in continuous learning and development.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams and functions.
  • Experience leading, coaching, or developing individuals and teams.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive, supportive, and high-performing team environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and sharing best practices.
  • Strong organizational awareness and sound judgment.
