Overview of Role

The Business Support Manager plays a central role in ensuring the smooth, efficient and compliant operation of the business. Working closely with leaders across the organisation, this role combines office management, facilities, health & safety, business assurance, rail industry compliance, executive support and business coordination. The role creates an organised, safe and productive working environment while ensuring statutory, regulatory and industry obligations are met and continuously improving operation processes.

The role will be based from our Manchester office, with a requirement to attend the office a minimum day of four days per week to support effective collaboration, stakeholder engagement and the delivery of business operations.

Responsibilities

Office Operations & Facilities

  • Oversee day-to-date office operations, facilities, equipment, suppliers and workplace resources.
  • Manage landlord, contractors and service providers.
  • Coordinate maintenance, statutory inspections, security, access passes and lockers.
  • Organise meetings, travel, events and hospitality.
  • Support onboarding through workspaces, equipment and inductions
  • Continuously improve the workplace environment and employee experience.

Compliance, Health & Safety & Business Assurance

  • Coordinate health, safety and compliance activities.
  • Maintain compliance schedules, policies, records and audit-ready documentation.
  • Administer first aid, DSE, COSHH, PPE and H&S inductions.
  • Support internal/external audits and continuous improvements.

Rail Industry Compliance

  • Manage Sentinel, RISQS and associated rail compliance
  • Coordinate occupational health, training, fatigue assessments and Track Visitor passes.
  • Act as key contact for auditors and compliance providers.

Business Support & Executive Coordination

  • Maintain business records, mandatory H&S training records and asset registers.
  • Support executives with reports, presentations and internal communications.
  • Monitor actions and deadlines and coordinate cross functional activities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in office, operations, facilities or business support management.
  • Strong organisation, planning and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in regulated or compliance driven environments.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint).
  • Proactive, solution-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvements.
  • Knowledge of health & safety administration, Sentinel, and/or RISQS (desirable)
