Exciting Career Opportunity: Business Support Officer - Court Business Support Team
We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and customer-focused Business Support Officer to join our Court Business Support Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality business support services that contribute to positive outcomes for children, young people, and families.
Working closely with the Business Support Team Leader, you will coordinate workloads, support colleagues, oversee administrative processes, and help ensure performance, quality, and customer service standards are consistently achieved. You will also play an important role in supporting the development of colleagues and driving continuous service improvement.
You will join a small, dedicated team committed to providing responsive and effective support to colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the delivery of high-quality business support services, ensuring workloads are allocated effectively and performance targets are achieved within agreed KPIs and SLAs.
- Act as an escalation point for Business Support Assistants, providing guidance on complex queries and issues.
- Support training, induction, skills development, and the maintenance of skills matrices and team competencies.
- Produce management information, statistical data, and performance reports.
- Deliver excellent customer service and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance service quality, efficiency, and staff development.
We have been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, following a 2023 inspection. This is a fantastic achievement for Birmingham Children's Trust, with many positive highlights focusing on areas including the quality of staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding, and corporate parenting.
This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham, so you must have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. Sadly, we do not support those who require sponsorship.
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a proven track record of delivering high-quality business support services and supporting colleagues to achieve excellent outcomes.
Essential Requirements
- Experience delivering high-quality business support, administration, and customer-focused services in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proactive, solution-focused approach, using initiative to resolve problems, manage unexpected situations, and drive service improvements.
- Experience coordinating, supporting, or supervising others, fostering collaboration, and ensuring high-quality outcomes.
- Strong ICT and information management skills, with experience handling data accurately, confidentially, and in compliance with organisational standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
