Directorate: Children’s Services

Pay Level: £15,500 (Apprenticeship rate in line with the National Apprenticeship Wage and Slough Borough Council apprenticeship arrangements. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, progression opportunities may be available within the service)

Contract Type: Fixed-term apprenticeship (18months)

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Observatory House/ Slough Hybrid (minimum 2 days per week in the office)

DBS requirement: Basic

This apprenticeship is aimed at young people aged 16-18 living in Slough and will be delivered through a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship programme.

Are you aged 16-18 and living in Slough, looking for an opportunity to gain valuable work experience whilst achieving a nationally recognised qualification?

We are offering an exciting apprenticeship within our Family Information Service (FIS) team. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop professional skills in business administration, customer service, communication and information services, while making a positive difference to children, young people and families across Slough.

Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will complete a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship delivered by Crosby Training, with dedicated study time provided through a combination of online learning and face-to-face sessions in Slough.

This role will provide hands-on experience in business administration, customer service and information management while supporting children, families and professionals across Slough. You'll gain practical workplace skills, receive dedicated support and complete a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship alongside your role.

As part of our Family Information Service team, you will:

  • Act as a first point of contact for families and professionals contacting the service.
  • Help families access information about childcare, family support services and local opportunities.
  • Support the organisation of meetings, events and community outreach activities.
  • Work alongside experienced colleagues to provide excellent customer service and support early help services for families.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll be supported to develop confidence, professional skills and experience in a busy local government environment.
