Help ensure the safety and compliance of Croydon's homes through high-quality business support.
We are looking for an organised, detail-oriented and proactive Business Support Compliance Officer to join our Housing Compliance team. This is a key role supporting the delivery of statutory and regulatory compliance across our housing stock, helping to ensure residents live in safe and well-maintained homes.
Working closely with contractors, residents and operational teams, you will provide comprehensive administrative and business support across a range of compliance workstreams including gas, electrical, fire safety, asbestos, water hygiene and lifts.
About the role
- Provide high-quality business support to the Housing Compliance team, ensuring compliance activities are effectively administered and monitored.
- Maintain accurate compliance records, certificates and documentation, ensuring information is validated, processed and stored in line with statutory requirements and audit standards.
- Coordinate compliance inspections, servicing appointments and remedial works, working closely with residents, contractors and internal teams.
- Raise and process works orders, purchase orders, contract orders, invoices and associated financial documentation in accordance with council procedures.
- Monitor outstanding compliance documentation and contractor submissions, ensuring records remain accurate, complete and audit ready.
- Support performance monitoring, reporting and business intelligence activities through accurate data management and administration.
- Assist with meeting statutory compliance targets and service standards across housing compliance functions.
About you
- Experience working in an administrative or business support role within a busy office environment.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage and prioritise workloads effectively to meet deadlines and service targets.
- Good communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, contractors and colleagues.
- Experience maintaining records, processing documentation and working with data and reporting systems.
- Confident using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- A customer-focused approach with the ability to handle enquiries professionally and sensitively.
- Knowledge of compliance, housing, property safety or regulatory administration would be advantageous.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
