The intention is for the postholder to work predominately from home, however, it is a requirement to attend our offices or sites within Warwick District as required. Any costs for travel from home to the office will be met by the successful candidate. However, hybrid and office working is also available.
Business Support Officer
Warwick District Council’s Contract Services team is recruiting a Business Support Officer on a one-year fixed-term contract to provide essential administrative and customer support across our frontline waste, recycling, street cleaning, and building cleaning services.
In this role, you will work directly alongside our client team responsible for contract management and performance monitoring. You will act as a primary point of contact for resident enquiries, responding to incoming service requests and liaising with contractors to ensure operational issues are resolved promptly, whilst assisting officers with routine daily administration to help ensure Warwick District stays clean, attractive, and safe.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Contract Services team in relation to waste and recycling, street cleansing, and building cleaning, including logging customer queries onto management software.
- Liaise with contractors on issues arising from the operation of the waste and recycling, street cleansing, and building cleaning contracts and provide administrative functions to support day-to-day operations and service improvement projects being delivered by the Contract Services team.
- To assess and resolve enquiries, requests, and complaints from the public, by telephone and electronic access channels and take decisions within established procedures with reference to Key Performance Indicators, Service Level Agreements, and quality standards for each service request.
- Maintain electronic and written databases of letters and forms received, information given, services requested, and complaints made. Assist in the preparation/production of Performance Indicators and monthly statistics.
- Provide a comprehensive information service to the public on services provided by the Contract Services team and the policies and procedures of the District Council, the County Council, and other agencies.

Essential Requirements
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrable experience of using databases and windows-based computer packages to conduct a range of administrative duties in an office environment.
- Experience of providing first-class customer service.
- A willingness to take ownership for decision making within established procedures.
- A methodical and accurate approach to your work.
Hours & Contract Type
- 1-year fixed-term contract
- Full-time.
- Hybrid working basis. It involves working from home and occasional attendance at council offices.
Overview of Team
The Contract Services Team plays a key role in maintaining a clean, attractive, and safe environment across Warwick District. The team manages the Council’s major frontline environmental services contracts — including waste collection, street cleansing, and building cleaning — ensuring they are delivered efficiently, sustainably, and to a high standard.
Alongside contract management, the team leads on waste and environmental education and enforcement activities, working with residents, businesses, communities, and partners to promote positive environmental behavior. From encouraging participation in recycling and tackling waste issues to supporting community clean-up initiatives, the team helps keep the district clean, tidy, and welcoming for everyone who lives, works, or visits here.
