Join Young Somerset and become a part of the team. You'll be the first point of contact for the charity, handling calls, emails and post, while providing administrative support across the organisation and helping keep day-to-day operations running smoothly.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

This is a hybrid role so you will be required to have a suitable, confidential space to be able to work from home when required.

This apprenticeship provides an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience in business administration and operations within a busy and supportive charity environment. Working as part of the Business and Innovation Team, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of Young Somerset while developing valuable skills in administration, communication, customer service, meeting coordination, and business support.

You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, providing a professional and efficient service to staff, visitors, partners, and young people. The role offers a varied workload, giving you the opportunity to learn about different aspects of business operations while contributing to the effective delivery of services across the charity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for visitors, telephone calls, emails, and enquiries, providing a professional and welcoming service
  • Support general office administration, including managing post, preparing meeting rooms, maintaining records, and producing documents and resources
  • Monitor and manage shared inboxes, responding to and directing enquiries appropriately
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper filing systems in line with GDPR and organisational requirements
  • Update information, documents, forms, templates, and guidance on the staff intranet
  • Arrange meetings, training sessions, and events, including room bookings, hospitality, and accommodation where required
  • Prepare agendas and take minutes for meetings as directed
  • Coordinate the booking and use of meeting rooms, equipment, and resources
  • Support central business functions through ordering goods and services and carrying out administrative research and enquiries
  • Assist with project administration, including updating spreadsheets, templates, and communications
  • Support health and safety processes by recording actions arising from routine checks
  • Help administer company vehicle checks, maintenance schedules, and defect reporting
  • Attend team meetings and contribute positively to team activities and service improvements

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
