Business Systems Manager to BIMCO's IT Team!

Why This Role Is Important for Us
As Business Systems Manager at BIMCO, you will take ownership of the business systems that our staff, our volunteers, and our members and customers depend on every day, and make sure they serve the organization effectively.
Sitting within our IT team, you will be the link between BIMCO’s internal departments and the technical teams and external partners who build and run our systems — including our CRM, our finance/ERP system, our website, community, and member portals, and other solutions that are essential to how our teams engage and collaborate.
You will own the roadmap and the continuous evolution of these systems: gathering requirements from across the business, prioritizing and coordinating development, managing our software suppliers and partners, and making sure everything stays secure, stable, well-documented, and compliant. You will also participate in current programs such as our move to GitHub-based development, our Azure tenant consolidation, and strategic use of AI across our systems and delivery. This is a role with genuine ownership and influence over how BIMCO’s technology landscape evolves.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Take ownership of BIMCO’s core business systems (CRM, ERP/Finance, website, community, and member portals, as well as other more niche systems), ensuring they meet business needs, and run reliably.
- Act as the bridge between internal departments and key system users — for example Membership, MarComms, Training, Contractual Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and Finance — and IT, gathering requirements and turning them into system changes as part of continuous improvement or dedicated projects.
- Manage relationships with external software and development partners, including scoping work, overseeing delivery, and managing contracts, SLAs, and budgets.
- Lead and coordinate efforts to improve user experience, integration, and automation across the portfolio, balancing priorities, timelines, and cost.
- Help maintain the security, stability, licensing, and compliance of BIMCO’s systems, working closely with our security/DevSecOps function.
- Champion good documentation, user guides, and staff training so colleagues are empowered to get the most from BIMCO’s systems.
- Produce clear reports and updates on systems, projects, and risks for IT and senior leadership.
- Support the wider IT team in resolving issues and continuously improving how BIMCO’s systems work together.
- Help BIMCO adopt AI tools to improve business processes and software delivery.

What You Will Bring
The ideal candidate:
- Has proven experience managing business-critical systems and IT projects, ideally in a systems-owner or systems-manager role.
- Has a proven ability to own and manage a portfolio of business-critical systems, for example CRM, ERP / finance, and web platforms.
- Has strong stakeholder management skills, translating business needs from across departments into clear system requirements and change.
- Has experience of vendor and partner management, including overseeing external development suppliers and managing contracts, SLAs, and budgets.
- Has experience of project and delivery management across concurrent IT initiatives, to time, budget, and quality.
- Has good technical literacy — web applications, REST APIs, integrations, databases, automation, and cloud platforms (ideally Microsoft Azure) — enough to lead technical conversations, make informed decisions, and challenge suppliers, without necessarily coding day to day.
- Has an awareness of information security, licensing, and compliance, and how to keep systems stable, secure, and well-documented.
- Has a structured, organized approach to project and change management.
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills, including reporting to senior leadership, and is confident working with both technical teams and senior stakeholders.
- Is fluent in written and spoken English.
- Has a legal right to work in the United Kingdom or Denmark.
It would be a bonus if you have:
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, or comparable ERP / finance / CRM systems.
- Familiarity with Azure, Git / GitHub, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code concepts.
- Data and reporting skills, for example PowerBI, to support decision-making.
- Budget management and cost tracking experience for systems and suppliers.
- Experience managing or coordinating developers and/or external partners.
- Experience using AI tools to improve business processes and software delivery.
- A relevant degree (business, information systems, or computer science) or equivalent experience.
- An interest or experience in the maritime, membership, or not-for-profit sector.
