Business Systems Manager

Location: West Sussex

We’re working with a well-established organisation operating within a highly technical and regulated environment to recruit an experienced Business Systems Manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a systems-focused professional who enjoys combining technology, process improvement and business transformation to deliver real operational impact.

As Business Systems Manager, you’ll take ownership of the organisation’s core business applications, with ERP at the heart of the role. Working across projects, operations, engineering, finance and IT, you’ll ensure business systems are effective, integrated and aligned with organisational objectives.

You’ll play a key role in improving processes, strengthening systems governance, driving digital innovation and ensuring the business gets maximum value from its technology investment.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for:

Business Systems Ownership

  • Taking ownership of the organisation’s core business applications, with ERP as the primary platform
  • Ensuring business systems are reliable, secure, supported and aligned with business requirements
  • Managing application upgrades, enhancements, integrations and vendor support
  • Developing and maintaining systems governance, standards and documentation
  • Overseeing application performance, user access, master data integrity and reporting capability

Business Process Improvement

  • Working with teams across the organisation to understand operational challenges and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Leading process mapping, requirements gathering and solution design
  • Driving standardisation, automation and simplification of business processes
  • Balancing process improvement, system configuration and customisation to deliver practical, effective solutions

Application Portfolio Management

  • Maintaining oversight and governance across the wider business systems landscape, including SaaS and specialist engineering/manufacturing applications
  • Establishing consistent approaches to application support, change control, release management and system ownership
  • Evaluating new technologies and applications to ensure they meet business needs and integrate effectively with existing platforms
  • Managing integrations and data flows between systems

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Building strong relationships across projects, operations, engineering, finance and IT
  • Managing system backlogs and translating business requirements into clear technical and functional solutions
  • Supporting the development of business cases for system improvements and investment
  • Managing relationships with software vendors, support providers and implementation partners
  • Supporting successful user adoption through training, communication and documentation

IT & Governance

  • Working closely with IT to align business applications with infrastructure, security and support models
  • Supporting change control, access management, audit requirements and disaster recovery planning
  • Contributing to business continuity, cybersecurity and compliance activities relating to business systems
  • Maintaining application roadmaps, risks, budgets and investment plans

We’re looking for an experienced Business Systems or ERP professional with a strong understanding of how technology can support and improve operational performance.

Essential experience:

  • Proven experience managing business systems or ERP platforms within a manufacturing, engineering or operational environment
  • Strong understanding of core business processes, including finance, supply chain, manufacturing and project operations
  • Experience delivering system improvements, upgrades, integrations or transformation initiatives
  • Knowledge of business applications, data management, reporting and systems governance
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and external vendors
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills

Desirable experience:

  • Experience with Epicor ERP or a similar enterprise platform
  • Knowledge of PLM, CRM or engineering systems
  • Experience with SQL, reporting tools, Power BI or API integrations
  • Familiarity with regulated or quality-driven manufacturing environments
