VolkerRail is a leading multidisciplinary railway infrastructure contractor which comprises of two businesses: Major Projects and Specialist Businesses.
Major Projects is an expert in collaborative working, leading on large, multidisciplinary joint venture and alliance projects.
Specialist Businesses is made up of expert divisions in signalling, track, power, electrification, and piling, and has an in-house plant division and bespoke design teams.
Our Head office is based in J3 Business Park, Doncaster and provides support to the businesses in the following areas: Finance and Payroll, Human Resources, HSQES, Work Winning, Procurement and Fleet.

VolkerRail is looking for an experienced Business Systems Partner (Project Manager)
to join our Business Systems team in Doncaster. This is an exciting opportunity to lead projects that improve business processes, modernise core systems and deliver tangible benefits across the organisation. Working with stakeholders at all levels, you will help shape and deliver a portfolio of initiatives that support operational efficiency and business performance.
Our core ERP system, COINS, supports around 850 users and plays a critical role across the business. While recent enhancements have delivered significant improvements, there is still considerable opportunity to increase automation, simplify processes and unlock further value. This role offers the chance to work on high-profile projects, collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and make a visible contribution to the future success of the business.

About our role
- Lead end-to-end delivery of IT and systems projects, from scoping to implementation.
- Partner with stakeholders to define requirements and success criteria.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including resource allocation, timelines and milestones.
- Apply recognised project management methodologies for consistent, high-quality delivery.
- Own risks, issues and decisions through robust RAAIDD management.
- Drive effective change control and clear communication across the business.
- Act as a COINS super user - supporting teams, enabling processes and coordinating upgrades.
- Champion process improvement and help modernise our systems ecosystem.
About you
- Proven experience delivering construction-related systems projects.
- Hands-on experience enhancing COINS.
- Strong track record delivering complex IT/ERP projects to time, cost and quality.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Governance & methodologies - solid understanding of project methodologies (PRINCE2, AgilePM, APM or similar).
- A proactive, detail-driven approach with the confidence to engage in technical detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Process improvement - experience analysing processes, challenging inefficiencies and driving improvement.
- People management experience.
- ERP / IT project leadership.
- Project & change management.
