About the Role

The Business Systems team supports the digital applications and platforms used across a range of council services. We work closely with service teams, technology colleagues, and system suppliers to ensure systems are reliable, effective, and continually improved.

This role will be instrumental in helping the ICT Business Systems team deliver high-quality digital services across the Council. By supporting system development, upgrades, supplier management, user engagement, and project administration, the postholder will help ensure that business systems remain effective, reliable, and aligned to service needs. The role will contribute directly to the Council's digital transformation programme, enabling continuous improvement and helping services make the best use of technology to deliver better outcomes for residents and colleagues.

As a Business Systems Support Officer, you will provide practical and administrative support across system development, implementation, and improvement activities. You will help colleagues use their business applications effectively, coordinate system changes and upgrades, maintain project records, and support the delivery of digital platforms.

This is a varied role in which you will work with colleagues across the Council and with external suppliers. You will help organise meetings and user groups, record actions and progress, maintain project plans and work-tracking boards, support testing, and contribute to the creation of clear processes, guidance, and training materials.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Coordinating meetings, user groups, and other activities relating to business systems.
  • Maintaining project plans, progress updates, action logs, and supporting documentation.
  • Keeping work-tracking boards, such as Planner or similar applications, accurate and up to date.
  • Supporting system upgrades, testing, and the implementation of new functionality.
  • Recording system development requests and liaising with suppliers to support their resolution.
  • Responding to user queries and escalating complex matters when appropriate.
  • Working with colleagues to understand and document business processes.
  • Producing process maps, workflows, user guidance, and training materials.
  • Supporting the development, integration, and quality checking of digital portals.
  • Coordinating updates to digital content so that information is published accurately and promptly.
  • Helping communicate changes to systems, platforms, and working processes.
  • Promoting digital inclusion and supporting colleagues through digital change.
  • Ensuring that information is handled accurately and in line with data protection and information access requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
