Marketing Transformation Director

£600-£800 per day | Outside IR35 | Contract | London

We're looking for an experienced Marketing Transformation Director to join a leading global brand and growth consultancy on an exciting transformation programme.

This is a senior consulting opportunity for someone who can operate confidently at the intersection of marketing strategy, organisational transformation, operating models, change and AI.

You'll work with senior marketing leaders to tackle complex business challenges, shape transformation strategies and turn strategic thinking into practical, executable solutions.

The role

As Marketing Transformation Director, you'll lead client engagements and transformation programmes from strategy through to activation.

You'll bring a combination of strategic depth, creative thinking and commercial pragmatism, acting as a trusted advisor to senior marketing stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead projects, workstreams and project teams, owning deliverables, timelines and client outcomes.
  • Build and manage senior client relationships across strategic, commercial and operational areas.
  • Partner with marketing leaders to define their transformation vision and develop practical roadmaps for delivery.
  • Analyse current organisations, capabilities, processes and ways of working to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop strategic recommendations and confidently present them to senior stakeholders.
  • Bring an agile, solutions-focused approach to complex transformation challenges.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI to marketing, translating technical possibilities into tangible business benefits.
  • Contribute to new business activity, including proposals, scoping, costing and pitch development.
  • Work collaboratively with wider specialist teams to bring the right expertise together for clients.
  • Mentor and develop more junior consultants, creating a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Stay close to emerging trends and innovations across marketing transformation, technology and AI.

  • Conduct stakeholder interviews to understand how marketing organisations operate.
  • Assess current versus future-state capabilities and identify gaps.
  • Design organisational structures, roles and reporting lines.
  • Map processes, governance and new ways of working to improve marketing effectiveness.

Change Management

  • Diagnose organisational challenges and develop change strategies.
  • Use behavioural science to understand barriers to adoption.
  • Design practical interventions to change behaviours and ways of working.
  • Lead change programmes incorporating communications, training, coaching and behavioural nudges.

Capability Building

  • Assess current marketing capabilities against future requirements.
  • Define capability strategies and development programmes.
  • Build learning programmes and curricula to upskill marketing teams.
  • Facilitate workshops and learning sessions.

AI Advisory

  • Assess an organisation's AI maturity and opportunities.
  • Map processes and identify where AI can improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop AI training and capability programmes.
  • Work with AI specialists on the development of AI agents and agentic workflows.

New Business

  • Develop compelling proposals and strategic responses.
  • Coordinate input across multiple specialist teams.
  • Scope engagements and develop value-based costing.

About you

We're looking for a senior consultant or client-side strategist with 8+ years' experience and a strong track record in marketing transformation.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Significant experience in Marketing Transformation, with expertise across areas such as operating model design, change management, employee experience, capability building and/or AI transformation.
  • Proven experience setting up, leading and activating complex transformation programmes.
  • The ability to understand and articulate the strategic value of AI within marketing.
  • Strong experience partnering with senior clients to define transformation visions and roadmaps.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to challenge conventional thinking.
  • The ability to turn strategy into practical, executable solutions.
  • Strong presentation and influencing skills, with the confidence to gain senior stakeholder buy-in.
  • Experience building, leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • A curious, energetic and entrepreneurial approach.

The opportunity

You'll be joining a collaborative consulting environment made up of specialists across areas including brand strategy, innovation, sustainability, behavioural science and transformation.

There is a strong emphasis on cross-functional working, bringing together different perspectives and areas of expertise to solve complex client challenges.

  • Contract: Initial contract expected to run from mid-September/mid-November through to the end of December, with potential for extension
  • Day rate: £600-£800 per day, depending on experience
  • IR35: Outside IR35
  • Location: London
  • Working pattern: 2-3 days per week in the office, with core days on Monday and Wednesday and some flexibility
