Business Unit Manager

Team/Role Overview

The Senior Business Unit Group Manager is a senior-level position primarily responsible for the overall administrative activities of a business unit and the management of International Operations Business Execution and Enablement support for the Functions within CSS. This role is crucial for driving operational efficiency, functional governance oversight, ensuring alignment with corporate goals, and supporting the leadership team in achieving business objectives. The manager will coordinate and manage activities such as tracking business financials, employee headcount, and other administrative needs, including ad hoc projects. This role serves as a trusted and strategic partner to senior leadership, focusing on resource planning and expense management in partnership with Finance, HR, and Senior Management across functional lines and the International Operations organization.

What you’ll do

Team Leadership & Operational Management:

  • Manage the International Business Execution team and CSS enablement org ensuring operational efficiency and functional governance oversight.
  • Manage and drive the process to set up a continuous cycle of organization/operating model reviews to shape the local organization model

Financial & Expense Management:

  • Create methodologies, procedures, and governance for the Productivity Area to ensure expense targets are met by each business/function.
  • Evaluate and approve investment/expenditure requests and capital expenses across all areas/functions.
  • Ensure approved out-of-budget expenditure requests are handled appropriately.
  • Engage in robust cost management activities, including validating spending and cost-saving initiatives, monitoring savings and expenses, and ensuring consistency between financial information, productivity information, and HR reports.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize costs, propose initiatives, and lead creation of direct expense plans in partnership with internal functions and teams.

Planning & Resource Management:

  • Facilitate the adoption of workforce planning initiatives, developing direction, and establishing plans to meet objectives and timelines.
  • Oversee Finance, Headcount, and Resource tracking and planning in line with agreed budgeting.
  • Monitor resource skills planning and organizational health.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets.
  • Drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, and applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices.
  • Escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency, and effectively supervise the activity of others while ensuring accountability.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:

  • Act as a key liaison between senior management and Global Function partners including HR, Finance, Legal, and ICRM.
  • Drive the implementation of key strategies, promoting a positive culture and engagement across the organization.
  • Lead communication strategies for all stakeholder groups.
  • Provide leadership and foster business relationships with internal and external senior leaders/clients across key businesses, regions, and support functions.
  • Directly interact with Function Heads, Cluster Ops Heads, and broader COO
  • Manage relationships with key Cluster Stakeholders.

Governance and PM

  • Coordinate activities across multiple areas within the business unit, including planning for business continuity, helping to establish action plans, and assign owners to drive business priorities.
  • Coordinate special projects and participate in AI Initiatives

Reporting & Administrative Support:

  • Prepare governance packs and forum materials
  • Develop dashboards and recurring reports, including attrition data and selected metrics.

What we’ll need from you

  • Extensive prior experience in financial services.
  • Experience working in global and complex settings with multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry and technology, including Profit & Loss (P&L), accruals, client allocations, capitalization, recovery, and fixed price contracts.
  • Proven ability to work in a team of diverse skill sets and cultures.
  • Proven ability to work in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
