As part of the Poppies Bakeries Group, Icefresh UK is a leading importer and distributor of premium ice cream, frozen desserts, and bakery products.

With a dedicated team of 30 colleagues, Icefresh supplies major retailers, distributors, and foodservice customers across the UK.

We are currently looking for a Business Unit Manager to lead the overall performance, profitability, and strategic development of Icefresh UK.

Your impact

As Business Unit Manager, you will have full P&L responsibility and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the business. You will drive sustainable growth, strengthen customer partnerships, and ensure operational excellence across all functions.

Working closely with the leadership of Poppies Bakeries Group, you will help further integrate Icefresh within the Group while fostering strong collaboration across teams, markets, and functions.

Key responsibilities

  • Define and execute the business strategy and growth ambitions of Icefresh UK
  • Drive commercial performance through customer development and new business opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key retailers, distributors, and strategic customers
  • Lead, coach, and develop both the Sales Team and Local Management Team
  • Oversee operations, supply chain, logistics, customer service, and inventory performance
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, profitability, cash flow, and working capital
  • Develop a high-performing culture focused on accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement
  • Act as a key ambassador of Poppies Bakeries and support the successful integration of Icefresh within the Group

You will report directly to the CEO of Poppies Bakeries Group and have a dotted-line reporting relationship with the Group Sales Director.

What we're looking for

  • Master's degree in Business, Economics, Commercial Management, or equivalent through experience
  • Minimum 10 years of leadership experience within FMCG, food, retail, or a related sector
  • Proven track record in P&L management and commercial leadership
  • Strong understanding of the UK market and customer landscape
  • Experience delivering sustainable and profitable growth
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate market opportunities into clear business plans
  • Inspiring people leader who develops talent and builds engaged, high-performing teams
  • Authentic and value-driven professional with strong integrity and leadership skills
