Business Unit MD (Client Services)
Salary: circa £110,000 + 20% bonus
Location: London or Manchester (hybrid)
We’re looking for a commercially driven Business Unit MD (Client Services) to lead and grow a high-performing client services division within a fast-growing, international professional services and outsourced services business focused on the hospitality sector.
This is not a traditional Finance Director role. In practice, we’re looking for someone who has run a business unit or client portfolio and is comfortable owning the commercial and operational performance of the entire division.
You’ll own the P&L, client relationships, pricing, scope, retention and growth, while leading the teams responsible for delivering a high-quality service across a portfolio of clients. You’ll work closely with founder and owner-operator clients, building trusted relationships and ensuring the team consistently delivers to deadline and to a high standard.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The role is highly people-led. You’ll be responsible for building and developing a strong delivery team, managing capacity, setting expectations and creating accountability -rather than being the person reviewing the technical work yourself.
What we’re looking for
- Experience running a business unit, client portfolio or outsourced service operation, rather than simply leading an internal finance function
- Strong commercial ownership across pricing, scope, margin, recovery, retention and growth
- Proven ability to manage multiple client relationships and ensure consistent delivery against deadlines and quality standards
- Strong people leadership skills, with experience building teams, managing capacity and creating accountability
- Confident dealing directly with Founders, CEOs and owner-operators and building relationships based on trust and credibility
- A track record of growing and scaling a service-led business or division
- Hospitality, leisure or other high-volume, client-led service experience would be highly relevant
- Strong financial and commercial acumen; technical finance experience is an advantage rather than the primary focus
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualification would be advantageous, but the ability to run a business and lead clients is more important than the qualification
