Role Description

The Butcher role at Fiddy's Butchers is a full-time, on-site position based in Norwich. Responsibilities include cutting, trimming, and preparing meat products according to shop standards and customer specifications, including beef, pork, lamb, and poultry. The role involves maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workstation, complying with food safety and hygiene regulations, and monitoring product freshness and stock levels. The Butcher will serve customers at the counter, provide product recommendations and cooking advice, prepare display cases, and assist with packaging, labeling, and pricing of products. The position also requires collaboration with colleagues to ensure efficient operations during busy periods and consistent service quality.

  • Strong practical skills in butchery and meat processing, including cutting, trimming, and portioning.
  • Experience handling poultry and seafood, with an understanding of proper storage and preparation techniques.
  • Solid customer service skills, with the ability to engage courteously, take accurate orders, and provide product guidance.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and workplace health and safety practices in a meat retail environment.
  • Ability to work on-site for full-time hours, including standing for extended periods and handling physically demanding tasks.
  • Attention to detail, reliability, and a focus on quality and consistency in product preparation.
  • Previous experience in a butcher shop, meat counter, or similar food retail setting is desirable.
  • Basic numeracy and communication skills to manage weights, pricing, labeling, and customer interactions.
  • Valid UK/EU/EEA Driving License Full/Automatic last 12 months, be in current address, no more than 3 points, no bans
