Role Description

The Buyer role at ProMedex is a full-time hybrid position based in Uttoxeter, with flexibility for some work from home. The Buyer will manage day-to-day purchasing activities, including sourcing products and services, obtaining and evaluating quotations, negotiating prices and terms, and placing orders through the digital GPO platform. This role will involve maintaining accurate purchasing records, monitoring supplier performance, resolving delivery or quality issues, and ensuring that procurement complies with company policies and cost-saving targets. The Buyer will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to understand requirements, forecast demand, and support inventory management, while fostering strong, professional relationships with suppliers. The role also includes contributing to process improvements and supporting data-driven decisions to enhance the efficiency of purchasing operations.

  • Experience in purchasing or procurement, including sourcing, negotiating, and supplier management.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills to compare quotes, manage budgets, and interpret purchasing data.
  • Proficiency with digital platforms, online marketplaces, and standard office software (e.g., spreadsheets, ERP or procurement systems).
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills for working with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple orders, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, order placement, and record-keeping.
  • Understanding of basic contract terms, pricing structures, and supply chain principles is beneficial.
  • Previous experience in a managed services, healthcare, or GPO environment is an advantage.
  • Relevant vocational training or a degree in business, supply chain, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
