We're looking for an experienced Buyer to join our Commercial team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded Buyer who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and loves spotting opportunities to delight customers while driving sales and profitability.

We're particularly interested in Buyers with experience across supermarkets, grocery, FMCG or other fast-moving retail environments, where trading decisions are driven by customer insight, pace and commercial performance.


A typical day will include...

  • Developing and delivering category plans including range reviews, promotions, pricing and stock strategies aligned to the wider commercial objectives.
  • Identifying new product opportunities that are commercially viable, competitively priced and meet customer needs.
  • Building strong supplier partnerships and negotiating the best commercial terms for Superdrug.
  • Analysing sales, market trends and customer insight to make informed commercial decisions.
  • Working collaboratively with Merchandising to ensure the right products are in the right stores at the right time while managing availability and stock performance.
  • Partnering with Supply Chain to ensure promotional and base forecasts maximise availability and minimise waste.
  • Collaborating with Marketing to deliver compelling promotional plans that drive footfall, sales and customer engagement.
  • Reviewing promotional performance and using insights to continuously improve future activity.
  • Developing strong relationships across Commercial, Marketing, Merchandising, Supply Chain and Finance to deliver shared business objectives.
  • Keeping ahead of market trends, customer behaviours and competitor activity to identify new commercial opportunities.

What you'll bring

  • Previous experience as a Buyer within a retail, supermarket, grocery or FMCG environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to interpret data and identify opportunities.
  • Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • A passion for products, customers and delivering commercial results.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with advanced Excel capability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, positive and solutions-focused approach.
  • Previous line management or coaching experience would be advantageous.

Please note: This opportunity is best suited to Buyers from supermarkets, grocery, FMCG, convenience or other high-volume retail environments. Unfortunately, candidates whose buying experience is primarily within fashion or apparel retail are unlikely to be suitable for this role.
