We're looking for a Buyer – Projects to support procurement activity within our Critical Environments business. Reporting into the Business Unit Business Partner, this role plays a key part in delivering effective category strategies, supplier performance, and commercial value, while acting as a trusted partner to stakeholders across the business.
Role Responsibilities
- Support and lead strategic sourcing, negotiation, and contracting activities, ensuring optimal cost, quality, and service outcomes.
- Contribute to the development and execution of category strategies aligned to business needs and risk mitigation.
- Identify and deliver cost reduction opportunities while maintaining service performance and supply continuity.
- Implement and maintain supplier management programmes across strategic and preferred suppliers.
- Measure, review, and improve supplier performance, resolving issues and driving continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, acting as a trusted commercial and procurement partner.
- Work cross-functionally with finance, audit, shared services, and operational teams to support business objectives.
- Support delivery of annual procurement targets across cost, quality, reliability, and service performance.
Required Qualifications
- 2–4 years' experience in a procurement or buying role, with evidence of continuous development.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.

- Proven experience managing and engaging stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Highly organised with effective time management and delivery focus.

- Customer-focused mindset with a strong emphasis on value and service outcomes.
Desirable
- CIPS qualification (or working towards).
- Experience supporting large-scale projects or critical environments.
- Exposure to supplier innovation and strategic supplier development.

- Comply with all Mitie and Group Health, Safety, Environmental, and Information Security policies.
- Report risks, incidents, or system deficiencies promptly through appropriate channels.
- Use all equipment and PPE correctly and in line with training.
- Proactively identify and escalate information security risks or incidents.
