The Role
Are you an experienced Manufacturing Buyer with a strong background in purchasing steel, metal components and engineering materials? Are you commercially driven, confident negotiating with suppliers and looking for an opportunity to take ownership of purchasing within a growing manufacturing business?
This is not a role for someone looking to take their first step into purchasing. We are specifically looking for an experienced Manufacturing Buyer with a strong background in procuring steel, metal components, fabricated parts and engineering materials within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
You will be confident negotiating with suppliers, managing lead times and ensuring the right materials are available at the right time to meet demanding production schedules. If you understand the pressures of a manufacturing environment and know how important purchasing is to keeping production moving, this could be a great opportunity.
If you have experience as a Manufacturing Buyer, Senior Buyer, Engineering Buyer, Procurement Specialist or Purchasing Officer within engineering, fabrication or industrial manufacturing, we’d like to hear from you.
As Buyer, you will take responsibility for sourcing and purchasing steel, metal components, fabricated parts, machined components, subcontract services and engineering consumables to support production.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
