Salary: £38,000 - £40,000 depending on experience

Benefits: 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays + birthday off, profit share scheme, salary sacrifice pension, death in service, cycle to work scheme & company events

Our client is a well-established building services company delivering mechanical and facilities solutions across a range of sectors.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Buyer to support the procurement process across the business, ensuring materials, goods and services are sourced competitively and delivered in line with project requirements.

Buyer - Position Overview

  • Manage the procurement of goods, materials and services to meet operational and project requirements.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers, obtaining competitive quotations and ensuring value for money.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Work closely with the pre-construction team to support tenders, procurement and value engineering opportunities.
  • Issue enquiry packages and evaluate quotations to ensure commercial and technical requirements are met.
  • Liaise with site teams to coordinate and programme deliveries, ensuring materials are available when required.
  • Monitor and expedite orders, maintaining accurate procurement and order records.
  • Assess supplier performance and support improvements where required to ensure quality, cost and delivery expectations are met.
  • Maintain accurate cost comparisons, order information and procurement records using Excel.
  • Monitor market conditions and changes in supply and demand that may impact the availability or cost of materials.
  • Support invoice checking and resolve any procurement-related queries.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with company procedures, QEMS and health and safety standards.

Buyer - Position Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Buyer within the construction or building services industry.
  • Experience procuring materials, goods and services within a project-led environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness with good analytical and numerical skills.
  • Ability to obtain, compare and evaluate supplier quotations.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with suppliers, site teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a methodical and organised approach.
  • Good understanding of procurement processes and supplier management.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple enquiries and priorities while working to tight deadlines.
  • Proactive, practical and commercially minded approach with good problem-solving skills.
