About the Role

We’re seeking a passionate and talented Buyer to join our creative Lipsy Team. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the commercial strategy for the Denim, Outerwear, Tailoring department. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development of a profitable, customer-driven product range
  • Driving profit growth and commercial success while upholding product quality
  • Guiding the team to maximize performance through talent development

Role Responsibilities

Strategy & Range Planning

  • Align range plans with future fashion trends, adjusting for seasonal demand and pricing architecture.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising and Design teams to define supplier strategies and sourcing needs.
  • Analyze customer profiles across retail, web, franchise, and wholesale to refine product development.
  • Develop stories, palettes, and key items in line with Design and Buying Trend Critical Paths.
  • Negotiate pricing and supplier contracts to meet departments targets.

Product Quality & Brand Vision

  • Ensure OTB (Open to Buy), stock levels, and pricing structures align with financial goals.
  • Prioritize product quality, using Technical teams to address returns and refine specifications.
  • Articulate Buying and Design visions internally via Full Phase Reviews and VM (Visual Merchandising) style guides.
  • Present sample collections and drive commitment at edit and selection meetings.

Trading & Supplier Management

  • Lead weekly trade reviews, identifying missed opportunities, late orders, and sales performance issues.
  • Work with Merchandising to propose repeats, restyles, or cancellations based on sales data.
  • Oversee supplier contracts, ensuring timely sampling, cost controls, and deliveries.
  • Evaluate supplier agents’ capabilities with SWOT analyses and foster new supplier sourcing.
  • Build strong supplier relationships to manage delays, quality issues, and costs effectively.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Foster a cohesive, high-performing team, providing training and development opportunities.
  • Balance workload and prioritization, setting clear deadlines through team reviews.
  • Coach employees with performance appraisals, setting objectives for growth and improvement.

Your Talent

Applicants must have:

  • Current or prior Buyer-level experience in womenswear, particularly in denim, outerwear, or tailored garments.
  • Proven track record in successful category-specific buying with strong commercial and profit-driven acumen.
  • Experience managing a team, nurturing skill progression, and driving performance improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results through passion, energy, and commercial insight.
  • Strong supplier relationship management skills and resize conflicts effectively.
  • Exceptional organization, with a proactive yet flexible approach to handling evolving market conditions.
