Buyer Bradford £35,000 - £40,000 Plus Bonus

Are you a commercially minded Buyer looking to develop your career with a successful and rapidly growing food business?

We are recruiting for a well-established foodservice company renowned for sourcing and supplying some of the highest-quality fresh products in the market. With a growing national presence, an ambitious culture and excellent opportunities for progression, this is a fantastic time to join its expanding procurement team.

The Role

You will take day-to-day ownership of assigned product categories, ensuring customers receive a consistently high-quality, commercially competitive and reliable product offering.

Working closely with suppliers, demand planning, logistics and depot teams, you will balance product availability, cost, margin, stock levels and shelf life across a national distribution network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing assigned product categories and monitoring their commercial performance
  • Placing and managing supplier orders to maintain product availability
  • Building strong, effective relationships with suppliers
  • Monitoring market conditions, pricing, availability and competitor activity
  • Supporting supplier negotiations and new sourcing activity
  • Managing stock levels across a multi-site depot network
  • Working with demand planning teams to align purchasing with customer demand
  • Minimising waste, excess stock and supply disruption
  • Monitoring supplier performance across quality, service and reliability
  • Resolving shortages, substitutions and wider supply challenges
  • Supporting category margin through effective purchasing and cost awareness
  • Identifying opportunities to improve value, service and efficiency

About You

You will ideally have experience within buying, procurement, supply chain or category support gained in foodservice, FMCG, fresh produce, wholesale or a similarly fast-paced environment.

You will also bring:

  • Good commercial awareness across cost, margin, stock and availability
  • Experience working directly with suppliers
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple categories and changing priorities
  • A practical and solutions-focused approach
  • Confident communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience within a multi-site distribution environment would be advantageous
