Buyer - Core Grocery
Location: London
Type: Hybrid
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000
I am currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer to join a successful food retailer within their growing team.
You will be responsible for driving the Buying strategy to ensure the growth in both sales & profitability while maintaining a strategic business focus to ensure continued development within the own brand buying department across food and beverages.
Responsibilities:
- Take full end to end ownership of the commercial & sourcing strategy for own brand categories
- Building & maintaining strong relationships with suppliers
- Understand key cost drivers (and impacts) within your category and continuously identify opportunities for improvement
- Full responsibility of negotiation of cost price increases and ensuring timelines are communicated throughout the process.
- Maintain outstanding levels of supplier service and work seamlessly with internal departments to resolve and issues promptly.
- Always seeking new suppliers to deliver a stronger commercial offer than current suppliers, or to supply new / alternate products and categories to the business
- Analysing sales figures to plan successful future lines with the own brand team.
- Working closely with the new product development teams to maintain quality levels within products.
- Presenting reports, figures and trend information to the Senior Management team

- Proven previous Buying / Procurement / Sourcing experience within a fast-moving FMCG / Food environment.
- Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
- Able to adapt swiftly in a fast paced, ever changing retail market.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively at all levels
- Excellent understanding of all MS Office products.
