Portfolio Procurement has been engaged by our leading Buckinghamshire-based client to recruit for a Buyer.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous purchasing or buying experience who is looking to develop their career within a fast-moving business.
Working across a varied range of purchasing requirements, you will support the effective procurement of goods and services, manage purchase orders from initial request through to delivery, and work closely with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
The business is also open to supporting the successful candidate with their continued professional development, including the opportunity to complete their CIPS qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, raise and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely progression
- Source key items and negotiate with suppliers to support business requirements
- Monitor outstanding orders and liaise with suppliers to ensure goods are delivered in a timely and effective manner
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand current and upcoming purchasing requirements
- Build effective working relationships with suppliers and internal teams
- Support the business with indirect purchasing requirements
- Research and identify alternative sources of supply, particularly where urgent requirements arise
- Support the wider purchasing function with day-to-day procurement activity
- Maintain accurate purchasing information and records within the relevant systems

Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within a Purchasing, Procurement or Buying role
- Ideally part-qualified in CIPS, or willing to work towards the qualification with company support
- Previous experience using an ERP/MRP system
- Some knowledge or understanding of import and export procedures
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and a well-organised approach
- Good communication skills, with the confidence to work with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple purchasing requirements and priorities within a fast-moving environment
