Buyer (Indirect Procurement) - Greenford (Hybrid) - Defence & Advanced Technology
Summary
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading defence and technology organisation that delivers advanced maritime and mission-critical solutions to customers worldwide.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Buyer to join a collaborative Procurement team, supporting the sourcing of indirect goods and services across a diverse business. The role combines day-to-day purchasing activities with supplier relationship management and continuous improvement initiatives, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both transactional procurement and developing strategic procurement skills.
Working within a highly regulated environment, you'll play a key role in ensuring continuity of supply, delivering value through supplier management and supporting operational teams across the business.
Responsibilities
- Manage Purchase Requisitions (PRs), ensuring accuracy, compliance and appropriate approvals
- Convert authorised PRs into Purchase Orders and issue to suppliers
- Source indirect goods and services whilst negotiating competitive pricing and best value
- Expedite supplier orders and manage order books to ensure timely delivery
- Maintain supplier, pricing and purchasing data within ERP systems (IFS or similar)
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, resolving delivery, quality and invoicing issues
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, supplier consolidation and process improvements
- Support supplier onboarding, NDAs and procurement administration activities
- Assist Accounts Payable with invoice and purchase order discrepancies
- Work closely with Production, Facilities, IT, Finance and other internal stakeholders
- Monitor supplier performance and help mitigate supply chain risks
- Support procurement audits, compliance activities and continuous improvement initiatives

Skills & Experience
- Experience within Indirect Procurement or a similar purchasing role
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation skills
- Experience managing Purchase Orders, supplier relationships and procurement administration
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (IFS preferred)
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working within a regulated industry would be advantageous
