Are you ready to take the next step in your manufacturing supply chain career?

Ontic is looking for a Buyer to join our growing Supply Chain team in Staverton.

You may already be working as a Buyer, or you may have built your experience in materials planning, production planning, scheduling, or another manufacturing supply chain role and be ready to develop your career in procurement.

At Ontic, we recognise that strong Buyers can come from different backgrounds. You do not need to have worked in aerospace, and you do not need to arrive knowing every aspect of the role.

If you understand how materials move through a manufacturing environment, are comfortable working with MRP information, and enjoy solving supplier and production challenges, we can help you develop the commercial, negotiation, and supplier management skills needed to succeed as a Buyer.

Why This Role?

This is a varied, hands-on role where your work will have a visible impact on production and our customers.

  • You will manage your own portfolio of suppliers and product lines, while working closely with experienced colleagues across Supply Chain, Planning, Production, Engineering, and Quality.
  • No two days are the same. One day you might be resolving a material shortage or agreeing a new delivery plan with a supplier. The next, you could be supporting an engineering change, reviewing future demand, or helping the business manage a supply risk.

You Will Have The Opportunity To

  • Take ownership of your own suppliers and product areas.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Develop your negotiation and commercial skills.
  • Make decisions that directly support production and customer requirements.
  • Gain experience across purchasing, supplier management, and supply chain improvement.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Production.
  • Contribute ideas and help improve the way we work.
  • Build a long-term career within Procurement and Supply Chain.

You will join a friendly and collaborative office where people share knowledge, managers are approachable, and colleagues are encouraged to take ownership.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Buyer, you will help ensure that purchased parts, materials, and services are available when required to support original equipment production, aftermarket, and spares demand.

You Will Be Involved In

  • Managing a portfolio of suppliers and product lines.
  • Using ERP and MRP information to understand purchasing requirements and priorities.
  • Raising and managing purchase orders.
  • Monitoring supplier orderbooks and following up on delivery commitments.
  • Speaking with suppliers about pricing, availability, lead times, and performance.
  • Responding to material shortages and changing production requirements.
  • Requesting and comparing supplier quotations.
  • Supporting supplier negotiations and sourcing activities.
  • Keeping purchasing and supplier information accurate and up to date.
  • Working with Planning, Production, Engineering, and Quality to resolve supply issues.
  • Supporting engineering changes and new product requirements.
  • Identifying supply risks and helping to put practical solutions in place.
  • Supporting supplier performance reviews and improvement activities.
  • Contributing to cost-saving and continuous improvement projects.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
