The Vacancy

We are recruiting for a Buyer to join our team and be responsible for ensuring materials, components, and services are available to support production schedules through effective supplier management and purchase order control. The role requires a proactive approach, maintaining regular contact with suppliers, anticipating potential delivery issues, and working collaboratively to resolve challenges before they impact the business.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Raise and manage purchase orders in line with production schedules and business requirements.
  • Maintain regular contact with suppliers to monitor order status and delivery commitments.
  • Proactively expedite purchase orders and challenge suppliers where delivery dates are at risk.
  • Build positive working relationships with suppliers to ensure open communication and effective problem-solving.
  • Take ownership of supply-related issues, working with suppliers to identify solutions and minimize disruption to production.
  • Communicate potential shortages, delays, or risks to internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with planning, production, and stores teams to understand changing priorities and material requirements.
  • Review MRP and purchasing reports to identify purchasing requirements and actions required.
  • Ensure purchasing data, order information, and supplier records are accurately maintained.
  • Support stock accuracy and participate in stocktaking activities as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve supplier performance, communication, and purchasing processes.
