Join a new and exciting distributor where your success will be rewarded by opportunities to progress into a management role! This role being the first of its kind for this company, this is a real opportunity to shape & drive the buying department! Benefit from joining a growing company where you can be instrumental in pushing business to its full potential! Location: Role with a National remit - working from their headquarters in Birmingham 5 days per week unless out on client meetings. Salary: Up to £40k basic salary (could flex for the right candidate) + 10-20% bonus, 21 days holiday + bank holidays (this can be flexible if needed) Contract Type: Full-Time | Permanent

About the Role
We're looking for a commercially driven Buyer to join a fast-growing wholesale business within the FMCG sector. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong supplier relationships, negotiating great commercial deals, and identifying opportunities within the food, drink, and snack categories. You'll play a key role in sourcing products, developing & maintaining long-term partnerships with brands, and helping drive the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with food, drink, and snack manufacturers and brand owners.
- Identify and secure new supplier opportunities across the FMCG market.
- Negotiate commercial agreements, pricing, and supply arrangements.
- Source surplus, promotional, clearance, and short-dated stock that delivers value for both suppliers and customers.
- Develop strategic supplier partnerships through regular communication and account management.
- Monitor market trends and identify new product and brand opportunities.
- Work closely with internal teams including sales, marketing, and operations to maximise commercial performance.
- Ensure supplier relationships are managed professionally, delivering excellent service and long-term collaboration.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience in buying &/or procurement for a cash and carry or wholesale business.
- Experience working with food, beverage, or snack brands.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify profitable opportunities.
- A proactive approach with excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team.
- A passion for delivering value and building successful long-term partnerships.
- Commutable distance to Birmingham HO
