Buyer 12 month FTC

Salary: £37,853 per annum

Location: Southampton

Talent Guardian is recruiting for an experienced Buyer on behalf of a well-established business operating within the consumer goods sector. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded buying professional to take ownership of branded product ranges, manage supplier relationships and play a key role in driving category growth.

As Buyer, you will be responsible for managing branded product portfolios from product selection through to launch. Working closely with suppliers and internal teams, you will identify new opportunities, negotiate commercial agreements and ensure product ranges continue to perform and develop.

You will be involved in every stage of the buying process, from market analysis and forecasting through to supplier management and product launches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Source and evaluate new suppliers and product ranges.
  • Negotiate pricing, margins, delivery terms and commercial agreements.
  • Manage product ranges from selection through to launch.
  • Monitor sales performance and stock levels to ensure availability and profitability.
  • Produce and analyse weekly and monthly performance reports.
  • Track purchase orders and ensure products are delivered on time.
  • Work closely with internal departments to ensure all required documentation and compliance requirements are in place.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Present new product opportunities and range developments to senior stakeholders.
  • Support sales teams with product training, launches and presentations.
  • Create engaging product descriptions and supporting information for new launches.
  • Attend industry trade shows and supplier meetings across the UK and Europe.

  • Previous experience within a Buying or Procurement position.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and analytical ability.
  • Experience managing product ranges and forecasting demand.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Confidence presenting information to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills would be advantageous.
  • A proactive and commercially driven approach.
