The Buyer

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing aerospace products and materials while ensuring competitive pricing, supplier quality, timely delivery, and appropriate inventory levels. This position works closely with suppliers and internal departments to support customer orders, manage backlog, monitor delivery performance, and provide purchasing and inventory reports throughout the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform purchasing-related data entry and maintain accurate procurement records.
  • Purchase a variety of aerospace products, materials, and components.
  • Identify and evaluate suppliers based on pricing, quality, reliability, and delivery performance.
  • Review and analyze price proposals, financial reports, market information, and other relevant data to determine reasonable pricing.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, terms, and other agreements with suppliers.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders from placement through delivery.
  • Monitor customer orders to ensure materials and products are procured on time.
  • Identify potential supply or delivery issues and work with suppliers and internal teams to resolve them.
  • Track and report customer backlog, supplier performance, and on-time delivery results.
  • Extract and analyze data daily to create visual reports for departments throughout the company.
  • Manage inventory levels to support operational needs while remaining within established budget targets.
  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal departments.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing, inventory management, supplier performance, and reporting.
  • Travel to supplier locations, trade events, or other business sites as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, operations, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two-three years of relevant professional experience in procurement required.
  • At least three years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Aerospace industry experience preferred.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review pricing, financial information, inventory data, and supplier performance.
  • Ability to create clear visual reports and communicate data to different departments.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and data-entry accuracy.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective negotiation and supplier-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate available information, and recommend practical solutions.

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 20%–30% travel is required.
