Are you an experienced Buyer with a background in manufacturing or engineering?

Do you enjoy building supplier relationships, managing procurement processes and ensuring materials are delivered on time and to specification?

We’re supporting a well-established manufacturing business in Fareham who are looking to recruit a Buyer to join their procurement team.

What’s the role all about?

As a Buyer, you’ll be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, components and services to support production and business operations.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring supply chain performance, cost efficiency and supplier quality — working closely with internal teams to support production and delivery targets.

Key responsibilities

  • Source and procure materials, components and services in line with business requirements
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost and delivery performance
  • Negotiate pricing, terms and contracts with suppliers
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance and lead times
  • Raise and manage purchase orders through ERP systems
  • Work closely with production, planning and engineering teams
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and supply chain improvement
  • Support inventory management and stock control activities
  • Resolve supply issues and minimise disruption to production
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement procedures

What you’ll need

To Succeed In This Role, You’ll Bring

  • Experience in a Buyer / Procurement role within manufacturing or engineering
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and procurement processes
  • Experience using ERP systems
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable

  • Experience within regulated or technical manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of MRP systems and inventory planning
  • Exposure to continuous improvement or cost-saving initiatives
