Are you an experienced Buyer with a background in manufacturing or engineering?
Do you enjoy building supplier relationships, managing procurement processes and ensuring materials are delivered on time and to specification?
We’re supporting a well-established manufacturing business in Fareham who are looking to recruit a Buyer to join their procurement team.
What’s the role all about?
As a Buyer, you’ll be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, components and services to support production and business operations.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring supply chain performance, cost efficiency and supplier quality — working closely with internal teams to support production and delivery targets.
Key responsibilities
- Source and procure materials, components and services in line with business requirements
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost and delivery performance
- Negotiate pricing, terms and contracts with suppliers
- Monitor and manage supplier performance and lead times
- Raise and manage purchase orders through ERP systems
- Work closely with production, planning and engineering teams
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and supply chain improvement
- Support inventory management and stock control activities
- Resolve supply issues and minimise disruption to production
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement procedures

What you’ll need
To Succeed In This Role, You’ll Bring
- Experience in a Buyer / Procurement role within manufacturing or engineering
- Strong understanding of supply chain and procurement processes
- Experience using ERP systems
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
- Experience within regulated or technical manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of MRP systems and inventory planning
- Exposure to continuous improvement or cost-saving initiatives
