Company Buyer (Construction Bias)
Gateshead
£36,000 to £40,000 p/a + Benefits
Full Time | Permanent
We're working with an established construction business looking to strengthen its procurement team with the appointment of a Company Buyer who'll be working closely with the organisation's Head of Purchasing.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a purchasing professional who enjoys building supplier relationships, negotiating the best commercial outcomes, and playing a key role in supporting project delivery. You'll be joining a busy and fast-paced environment where no two days are the same and where your contribution will have a direct impact on operational success.
The Role
You'll take ownership of purchasing activities across a range of construction projects, ensuring materials and services are sourced efficiently, competitively, and delivered on time.

Responsibilities will include:
- Sourcing and procuring construction materials and services.
- Obtaining and assessing supplier quotations.
- Building strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Negotiating pricing, lead times, and commercial terms.
- Coordinating deliveries with operational and site teams.
- Monitoring supplier performance and resolving supply issues.
- Supporting cost control and procurement reporting activities.
- Maintaining accurate purchasing records and documentation.
About You
We're keen to speak with candidates who have:
- Previous experience in a Buying position.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Experience within construction, building materials, or a related sector would be advantageous.
