Role Description
Assistant Buyer
Buyer role on a 9-12 month fixed term contract position based in Burntwood.
Keon Homes is a growing company with an excellent industry reputation, and a very strong order book.
Day-to-day responsibilities
- Supporting the purchasing function by raising and processing purchase orders, take offs, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to construction sites.
- Obtaining and comparing supplier quotations, assisting with cost tracking, and updating procurement schedules.
- Liaising with site teams, suppliers, and internal departments to resolve delivery issues, manage returns, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Additional tasks may include updating databases, assisting with tender documentation, and contributing to continuous improvement within the procurement process.

Qualifications
- Experience in purchasing or procurement support within construction, housing, or a related sector, with an understanding of materials, suppliers, and cost control.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, including accurate data entry, document management, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Excel, Word, email systems) and comfort working with procurement or ERP systems and spreadsheets.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with suppliers, site teams, and colleagues.
- Attention to detail and numerical accuracy, including basic skills in comparing quotations, tracking costs, and checking invoices and delivery notes.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment, demonstrating reliability, self-motivation, and accountability.

Desirable
- Previous experience in residential housing or construction, knowledge of social housing frameworks, and progress toward or interest in professional purchasing qualifications (e.g., CIPS).
- Full UK driving licence and the flexibility to visit sites or supplier premises when required.
