Buying Manager – Ambient Grocery

A leading UK retailer is looking for an experienced Buying Manager to take ownership of one of its key Ambient Grocery categories. You’ll join a high‑performing commercial team and play a central role in shaping the product offer across hundreds of stores nationwide. The role is hybrid, with three days per week spent in their modern West Midlands office.

The Role

Reporting into the Head of Buying, you’ll steer the strategic direction of the category — from supplier sourcing and range development through to promotional planning and margin delivery. You’ll identify new supplier opportunities, strengthen existing partnerships, and ensure ranges land on time with strong commercial impact.

You’ll collaborate closely with trading, supply chain, marketing and operations teams to build compelling category plans, deliver effective JBPs, and optimise pricing, promotions and profitability. This is a visible, commercially autonomous role where you’ll influence decision‑making and help drive the category’s long‑term growth.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
