Buying Manager

This award-winning UK retailer is seeking a Buying Manager to take ownership of the product offer within one of its Ambient Grocery categories. The role is based in their modern West Midlands office three days per week, with the remaining time worked remotely.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Buying, this is a high-profile position with responsibility for shaping and developing the category strategy. You will enhance the product range by sourcing new suppliers and strengthening relationships with the existing supply base. The role involves leading the development of category plans, ensuring ranges launch on time, and building robust supplier strategies. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver promotional plans and joint business plans, with full accountability for category margin and profitability.

About You

You will ideally come from a retail or wholesale buying background with strong experience across an ambient grocery category such as Impulse, Confectionery, Soft Drinks, BWS or similar. You will bring excellent supplier management and negotiation skills, along with a proven ability to drive cost efficiencies and unlock commercial opportunities. A collaborative working style is essential, as is the confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels.
