C# Developer - Front Office Trading

Are you a C# developer who enjoys being close to the action rather than several layers removed from the people using your software?

What about working directly alongside a trading desk, where you can see the impact of what you build - sometimes immediately?

You'll be joining a front-office technology environment supporting traders, combining software development with the kind of rapid problem-solving that comes from sitting alongside your users.

This isn't a role where every requirement arrives neatly packaged in a ticket. A trader may come to you because an application isn't behaving as expected, they need a tool adapting for a particular trade, or something needs investigating quickly. You'll need to understand what they're trying to achieve and work out the technical answer.

Alongside this, you'll spend time developing and improving the tools used by the desk, predominantly using C#/.NET, with Python, VBA and Excel also forming part of the wider environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

If you enjoy understanding the why behind what you're developing, you'll get plenty of that here. You'll be working with the people making the trades rather than simply receiving requirements further down the line.

You'll need previous experience within a trading or front-office environment and enough financial markets knowledge to comfortably understand conversations around Swaps, Bonds and/or Equities.

You'll also need to be comfortable with pressure. When a trader has an issue affecting what they're trying to do, they'll want an answer quickly. This will suit someone who enjoys that immediacy rather than wanting to work quietly through a development backlog.

Technically, C#/.NET is the key requirement. Experience with Python, VBA or Excel would add to your suitability, but your ability to understand trading environments, solve problems and communicate directly with traders is equally important.

This role is a hybrid position based in central London.
